Gov. Dayton Appointments Sen. Wiger to Education Commission of the States

Gov. Mark Dayton recently announced Sen. Chuck Wiger’s appointment to the Education Commission of the States. Senator Wiger represents North St Paul, Maplewood and Oakdale in the Minnesota Senate.

“I am honored to receive this appointment,” said Sen. Wiger. “Offering a quality education is extremely important to the future of our state and nation. States’ ability to share information between each other will go a long way towards improving our education system. I look forward to offering ideas and proposals to my colleagues from other states.”

The mission of the Education Commission of the States is to “…help states develop effective policy and practice for public education by providing data, research, analysis and leadership; and by facilitating collaboration, the exchange of ideas among the states and long-range strategic thinking.”

Sen. Wiger’s term on the commission will run from now until Jan. 5, 2015. Also appointed to the commission is Rep. Jim Davnie of Minneapolis. He replaces Rep. Pat Garofalo. For more information on the Education Commission of the States, visit http://www.ecs.org/.
