Sen. Rest to serve on MLC Executive Committee
State Senator Ann H. Rest (DFL-New Hope) was recently appointed to serve on the Executive Committee of the Midwestern Legislative Conference (MLC) of the Council of State Governments. The Executive Committee is the entity responsible for overseeing all of the activities of the MLC. Her appointment was announced by MLC Chair Rep. Scott Reske of Indiana.
The purpose of the MLC is to, “foster cooperation among the region’s policymakers through the consideration of common problems, the exchange of information and ideas, the sharing of knowledge, and the pursuit of collaborative efforts to improve state government.” The MLC is made up of 11 Midwestern states and four Canadian provinces. It is comprised of legislators and members of each jurisdiction’s executive branch. Senator Rest is a member of the Midwest-Canada Committee.
“Maintaining healthy relationships with our neighbors is important to our state’s economy, border security, environmental safety and many other issues,” said Sen. Rest. “I am looking forward to joining the Executive Committee to help foster those relationships.” The MLC annual meeting was held in Indianapolis.
