Reinert Encourages Public Input at Blatnik Bridge Lighting Project Meeting
DULUTH, Minn. — On Wednesday, August 29, the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) is hosting an open house to educate and seek public input on the new lighting system being designed for the Blatnik Bridge in Duluth.
The new lighting system will replace the original lighting system that had previously lit the center span on the bridge. Open house attendees will be able to see visual renderings of the bridge lighting designs, discuss the designs with project staff and provide comments.
“When we think of the Twin Ports, two communities operating as one, we think of the Blatnik as the bridge that ties us together,” said Senator Roger Reinert. “I am encouraged to see that the Departments of Transportation in both Minnesota and Wisconsin have agreed to find cost-effective ways to reinstall the bridge’s landmark lighting.”
Senator Reinert went on to say, “it’s important for Duluthians to come to the open house as this is an excellent opportunity for citizens to discuss the various proposals and provide valuable feedback.”
The open house will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on August 29 at MnDOT Headquarters, 1123 Mesaba Avenue, Duluth, MN 55811 in Conference Rooms A and B. Presentations about the lighting design alternatives will be held at 5:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
