Senator Dahle Holds Google+ Hangout to Discuss Senate’s Education Policy Bill

Senator Kevin Dahle, Vice-Chair of the Policy division of the Senate Committee on Education, was joined yesterday by the Superintendent of the Belle Plaine School District, a teacher from Cambridge-Isanti High School and the Executive Director of Minnesota Math and Reading Corps for an online discussion about the Senate’s proposal to drastically enhance education opportunities for each and every Minnesota child. Highlights of the Google+ Hangout can be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVWv4FOPgQk. The full hangout is posted at http://bit.ly/e12hangout.

“I would do this again,” said Senator Dahle following the video conversation. “Our bill was developed with stakeholders from across the state, so it was great to check in at this point in the process and broadcast our conversation to a wide audience.”

The Senate passed an Education bill that invests an additional $356 million into Minnesota schools, marking the first investment in E-12 education after more than a decade of deep cuts. The proposal provides the option for all-day kindergarten for every student, increases per student funding, invests in proven programs and reforms testing to prepare students for college and their career.
