Statewide bonding tour to begin in Northeastern Minnesota on October 1
ST.PAUL, MINN. – Billions of dollars worth of capital investment projects across the state from flood mitigation to highway construction projects will be studied, toured and presented during a nine-week long bonding tour beginning October 1.
Senator LeRoy Stumpf (DFL-Plummer) chairs the Capital Investment Committee and will be leading the extensive tour throughout the state. The tour is divided into five sections by region beginning with Northeast Minnesota.
Many of the stops throughout the tour will be at MNSCU locations where people and organizations requesting bonding funds can come and present their projects. State senators will be involved throughout the nine-week tour to help highlight projects in their districts.
“This tour gives me and other members on the Capital Investment Committee a chance to see projects in need up close and personal. We can ask questions, get tours and get a good feel for the various projects requesting money,” Senator Stumpf said.
The first tour stop on Tuesday, October 1 will be at Moose Lake’s Minnesota Correctional Facility. Other stops throughout the first three-day regional tour will include the MN Highway 53 project, Lake Vermilion State Park, the Myles Reif Performing Arts Center and the Cuyuna Lakes State Trail in Brainerd. Project presentations will be held at University of Minnesota-Duluth and Hibbing Community College.
Subsequent tours will be carried out every other week throughout October and November, with the tour wrapping up in the first week of December. The tour dates and regions will be as follows:
