Hungry children can’t learn and succeed in the classroom

Earlier today, Governor Dayton issued a statement in support of legislation authored by Sen. Jeff Hayden (DFL-Minneapolis) and Rep. Yvonne Selcer (DFL-Minnetonka) to ensure no child is denied lunch in Minnesota schools. Sen. Hayden released the following statement:

“I thank Governor Dayton for his leadership on this issue and share his commitment to finding the funding necessary to ensure every Minnesota kid gets a healthy lunch at school. Everyone agrees that hungry children can’t learn and succeed in the classroom. With the Governor’s support, we’re one step closer to making sure our school children aren’t getting turned away from the lunch line. I was proud to author this legislation last session, and look forward to seeing it signed into law this year.”
