St. Paul, Minn—Senate Majority Leader Tom Bakk (DFL-Cook) elaborated on other issues DFL Senators would like considered in negotiations for a potential Special Session this morning, in addition to unemployment benefits for steelworkers in Northern Minnesota and REAL ID compliance. Another issue of primary concern for the Senate DFL Caucus is how best to support and provide equitable opportunities for all Minnesotans and their families—no matter where they live.

“There is work to be done for unemployed Minnesotans across this state. As we consider an agenda for a special session to assist unemployed steelworkers in Northern Minnesota, DFL Senators feel it is important we begin to address the complex, multifaceted drivers of persistent unemployment and increasing poverty levels experienced by many Black Minnesotans in any potential Special Session,” Bakk said.
