ST.PAUL, Minn. – After traveling around 2,500 miles across the state, the Minnesota Senate Capital Investment Committee is set to embark on its last regional tour next week. The committee will be viewing bonding project proposals in Minneapolis, St. Paul, St. Cloud and St. Louis Park from Dec. 15-17.

On Dec. 15, the tour will visit Minneapolis. Stops include the Hennepin County Medical Examiner, Hennepin Center for the Arts, Pioneers and Soldiers Cemetery fence, several major transportation projects, Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board headquarters, Upper Harbor Terminal, Emergency Operations and Training Facility, Cedar Cultural Center, and the University of Minnesota.

On Dec. 16 the tour will visit St. Cloud and St. Louis Park. Stops include Fort Ripley, St. Cloud State University, St. Cloud Dam and St. Louis Park City Hall.

On Dec. 17 the tour will visit St. Paul. Stops include Como Park Zoo and Conservatory, University of Minnesota Saint Paul campus, Great River Passage Environmental Learning Center, Landmark Center, Kellogg/3rd St. Bridge, Battle Creek, Union Depot, Minnesota Museum of American Art, Science Museum of Minnesota, Roy Wilkins, and Dorothy Day Center.

Sen. LeRoy Stumpf (DFL-Plummer), Chair of the Senate Capital Investment Committee says committee members are starting to see a clear need for basic infrastructure across the state.

“As we approach the sixth and final week of bonding tours, I believe we are starting to see a pattern in the needs of communities across the state. With more than $3 billion worth of projects requesting money, it’s clear that many towns and cities are dealing with crumbling and outdated infrastructure needs. It’s my hope that with a budget surplus of $1.9 billion, we will be able to pass a comprehensive bonding bill that addresses the needs of Minnesotans,” said Sen. Stumpf.

Visiting the Senate Capital Investment website Build.MN is the best way to view bonding proposals, see videos and photos from the tour, and read journal entries by senators about the tour and projects. You can also follow along by visiting the committee’s following social media pages:
