Sen. Pappas supports Dayton Bonding Bill
Calls for quick passage to create thousands of jobs across the state
ST. PAUL, Minn – Senator Sandra Pappas (DFL-St. Paul), the DFL Lead on the Senate Bonding Committee, supports Governor Dayton’s call for the timely passage of a $1.5 billion bonding bill. According to Pappas, passing the legislation would jump start the building of more than 240 projects across Minnesota which support local communities and improve our infrastructure.
“Bonding bills are one of the most direct economic development tools we use to create jobs. Infrastructure projects funded through these bills employ thousands of Minnesotans across the state and in some instances, leverage federal matching grants or other private investment in communities,” Sen. Pappas said. “The passage of a bonding bill in 2017 is critical to communities across the state for basic needs such as water, sewers, roads, and bridges. The longer we wait to address our infrastructure needs, the more expensive it is to repair or replace the state’s resources.”
Senator Pappas stressed Senate Democrats are committed to passing a bonding bill in 2017 and call on the House and Senate Republicans to support passage of this important legislation to help communities across the state and create more than 22,000 Minnesota jobs.
