Sen. Torres Ray Welcomes Colombia Ambassador to Minnesota
Saint Paul, Minn – Senator Patricia Torres Ray (DFL-Minneapolis) welcomes the Ambassador of Colombia, Juan Carlos Pinzon, to Minnesota in conjunction with Global Minnesota’s yearlong exploration of Colombia. Ambassador Pinzon will arrive on Monday, April 24 to speak at a public luncheon about the important relationship between the U.S. and Colombia
Ambassador Pinzon plans to discuss trade opportunities, cultural connections and the challenges that lie ahead for the effective implementation of the peace accord. He also wants to talk about ways this newly-achieved peace might affect Colombia’s ongoing partnership with the United States, especially in regards to trade promotion, environmental protection and regional security.
“I am excited Ambassador Pinzon is coming to Minnesota,” Sen. Torres Ray said. “As a Colombian born American, I am thrilled to accompany the Ambassador to both the luncheon and a reception with Colombian students and scholars who are studying, teaching and conducting research in our great state.”
Ambassador Juan Carlos Pinzon became the Ambassador of Colombia to the United States in 2015. He previously served as the Minister of Defense in Colombia.
“I want to invite interested Minnesotans to join us at the public luncheon,” Sen. Torres Ray said. It will be held at the Minneapolis Club on April 24 at noon. Registration is at 11:30 am and the cost is $45 for members and students, $60 for nonmembers.
