Sen. Pappas supports April 28 deadline to ensure orderly conclusion of session

St. Paul, Minn – This Friday, April 28, legislative conference committees will release their negotiated budget targets. This leaves only three weeks to resolve their differences and to negotiate with the Governor to pass all major budget bills. Senate Republicans loudly complained last session about the chaotic end of session last year.

“As the former Senate President and presiding officer, I believe Minnesotans deserve better than utter chaos at the end of session,” Senator Pappas (DFL-St. Paul) said. “This critical April 28 deadline needs to be met to ensure accountability, transparency, and an orderly process. Speaker Daudt’s comments supporting a global deal (negotiated by a few leaders) is a failed strategy he’s used in the past and does not align with those goals. I sincerely hope Republicans will keep their word to learn from the past and ensure a dignified conclusion to the 2017 session.”
