Senator Frentz Statement on Housing Task Force Report
As a member of Governor Dayton’s Housing Task Force, Senator Nick Frentz (DFL- N. Mankato) is proud of the recommendations released in the report today. The report identifies problems with Minnesota’s housing market and provides workable solutions to solve them. The report recognizes that secure, affordable, and attainable housing is a fundamental need in Minnesota.
The Task Force recommends 30 ways to sustain and improve Minnesota’s housing, organized under six goals: Commit to housing as a priority, preserve the housing we have, build more affordable housing, increase housing stability, link housing and services, support and strengthen home ownership. The report also includes recommended legislative action to achieve these goals.
In response to the release of the Housing Task Force report today, Sen. Nick Frentz issued the statement below:
“I would like to thank Governor Dayton for appointing me to the Housing Task Force and thank the other work group members for their outstanding efforts in producing this final report and recommendations. Housing is an important issue for the greater Mankato area, especially in terms of affordability. We can better meet other challenges as individuals, families, and communities if people have a secure place to live. As a key component of economic growth, we need to ensure families can find quality housing at affordable prices — which helps build stronger communities. I look forward to working with my fellow legislators, as well as partnering with local leaders, to move these recommendations forward to improve communities right here in Senate District 19 and across Minnesota.”
