Senator Franzen Joins the Class of 2018 Aspen-Rodel Fellowship Program
State Senator Melisa Franzen (DFL-Edina) was one of 24 selected nationwide for the Aspen Institute-Rodel Fellowships in Public Leadership program.
“To be chosen to be part of Aspen Institute-Rodel Fellowship in Public Leadership amongst other national leaders is very humbling,” said Senator Franzen. “The program is a great opportunity to learn, share and expand my networks on both sides of the aisle. I’m looking forward to bringing back policy ideas that we can agree on regardless of political party to better serve Minnesotans. It’s an honor to be part of the prestigious Rodel Fellowship where some of the policy leaders I admire the most, like U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris and U.S. Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords are past fellows.”
The Rodel Fellowship program is a nonpartisan educational program open by invitation only to men and women, who are in publicly elected offices and ideally under age 50. Fellows are selected on an annual basis and identified by the program’s leadership as America’s emerging political leaders with reputations for intellect, thoughtfulness, and a commitment to civil dialogue. The program provides an opportunity for fellows to analyze and discuss historical texts and contemporary commentaries on topics such as democracy and leadership. The 24-month long fellowship program consists of three weekend-long seminars, generally held in Aspen, CO.
