Advisory Council Currently Seeking U of M Regent Candidates

DULUTH, Minn. — The Regent Candidate Advisory Council (RCAC), charged by the Minnesota State Legislature, is currently seeking well-qualified applicants for four open positions on the University of Minnesota’s Board of Regents in 2013. One of the positions designated to be filled by the State Legislature next session is a student at-large position.
“While Duluth and CD8 are fortunate to have David McMillan representing us as a Regent,” said Senator Roger Reinert – District 7. “I’d love to see the next student Regent come from UMD.” The University of Minnesota – Duluth graduates one out of every four undergraduates in the University system.
Among the attributes for good candidates are governance experience with complex organizations, knowledge of higher education, and understanding and appreciation of the role of higher education at the University and in our State and Nation, and an understanding of the transformation that is taking place in society as a result of technology.

In addition to the student at-large position, the State Legislature will also be filling two at-large positions and one Fifth Congressional District position next year.
