Historic investments to address racial and economic disparities signed into law

Equity Subcommittee Co-Chairs call on Target Field vendor to keep it local, hire Minnesota workers instead of bringing in out-of-state workers

Yesterday media reported that Target Field concession vendor Delaware North Sportservice had been busing in 150 workers to work for Twins games from Green Bay, Milwaukee, and Chicago as well as providing temporary accommodations. Equity Subcommittee Co-Chairs Sen. Jeff Hayden (DFL-Minneapolis) and Sen. Bobby Joe Champion (DFL-Minneapolis) have been working with community organizers and leaders to address this new revelation and have released statements calling for this practice to end.

Equity Subcommittee Holds First Hearing

The Senate Equity Subcommittee co-chaired by Sen. Jeff Hayden (DFL-Minneapolis) and Sen. Bobby Joe Champion (DFL-Minneapolis) convened its first hearing today on the anniversary of the passage of the Fair Housing Act of 1968 which provided for equal housing opportunities regardless of race, creed, or national origin.

Northern Metal must get it right or get out of North Minneapolis

The Minneapolis Star Tribune recently published an article on a Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) analysis of air monitoring data, which has confirmed lead levels in North Minneapolis are 10 times higher than other locations. MPCA regulators say they’re concerned and need to investigate this further. Personally, I’m incredibly disturbed by this news.
