The 2019 legislative session began Tuesday, January 8. I walked into our State Capitol that day bursting with pride knowing that for the next five-and-a-half months, “We the People” will pour our hearts and souls into the causes and issues we care about most.
To some, our Legislature appears to be transforming into Washington, D.C., mired in partisan gridlock. To me, I see an opportunity for Minnesotans to set ourselves apart and become a beacon of good governance for the rest of the country.
According to the Minnesota Constitution, it is the responsibility of the Legislature to create and establish a general and uniform system of public schools.
