St. Paul, Minn.—SF2891 passed the Minnesota State Senate today by 59 to 0 vote. Senate Majority Leader Tom Bakk (DFL-Cook) has released the following statement calling on the Republican-controlled House to declare an urgency and send the Iron Range unemployment extension bill to Governor Dayton today.
“The ball is in the House Republicans’ court. The House now has a bill to extend unemployment benefits for workers—which almost 3,000 workers and families are waiting to have access to—and they have their $258 million corporate tax cut bill. We have seen time and time again that Republicans say they care about the needs of Greater Minnesota, and yet when given the opportunity, they give rural Minnesota the short end of the stick. The House has the opportunity today to pass these two bills and put them on Governor Dayton’s desk before Easter. My constituents and I certainly hope they do the right thing today,” Bakk said.
