Body Cameras Heard In Judiciary

On Thursday, the Judiciary Committee heard legislation regarding the classification of data acquired through police body cameras.  Police departments across Minnesota have recently been adopting body cameras for use by their officers. However, Minnesota lacks clear guidelines on how the video from the cameras be classified. The legislation would classify all the video as private, unless the subject being recorded requests the video. The legislation was laid over for further consideration.  (S.F. 498)
