The Child Protection Bill, which will put in place stronger protections for children facing possible maltreatment, was referred to the Senate Finance Committee. The bill addresses findings from the Governor’s Task Force on the Protection of Children, which is comprised of state legislators, county officials, college professors, social services professionals, and children’s defense advocates.
The bill will implement select recommendations from the Governor’s Task Force that will modify the existing system to put children’s safety first. The language will expand the information available for screeners, reform the family assessment process, and ultimately strengthen the child-first approach in our statute. (S.F. 4)
