ST. PAUL, MINN. – Education stakeholders from across the state will be testifying Thursday at the first 2015 hearing of the Minnesota Senate E-12 Education Policy and Budget Division. The hearing will be Thursday, Jan. 8, at 8:30 a.m. in Room 107 of the Capitol. Division Chair Sen. Chuck Wiger (DFL-Maplewood) has invited education partners and stakeholders to share their legislative recommendations. The hearing is open to the public.
“It’s important to begin session with a good idea of what stakeholders are seeing in communities across the state. I want to make sure our committee is properly addressing the most urgent needs in education, because we want to start working on these issues right away,” said Sen. Wiger.
Among the more than a dozen scheduled speakers include representatives from the Minneapolis and St. Paul public schools, the Association of Metropolitan School Districts, the Minnesota Rural Education Association and the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
