Hayden Comments on Senate HHS Bill

SAINT PAUL, Minn. — Assistant Senate DFL Leader Jeff Hayden, DFL-Minneapolis, released the following statement after the Health and Human Services omnibus passed the Republican Senate.

“The Republican HHS bill should never have passed. It cuts $100 million from the CCAP program and the math to pay for the bill just doesn’t add up. The bill jeopardizes health care access for thousands, threatens the stability of the health care sector, and hurts the entire state budget.

“Not only does this bill make devastating cuts to child care assistance and access to services for people with disabilities, but it shifts money around and doesn’t even adequately fund the provisions in the bill. If this bill became law, thousands of families could be forced to leave the workforce, about 1,800 people would lose access to their PCA services, and more than 6,000 eligible people with disabilities could be denied waiver services.
