Hayden Congratulates University Regents

SAINT PAUL, Minn. — The Minnesota Senate and House of Representatives today elected four University of Minnesota regents: statewide at-large regents Kao Ly Her and Mary Davenport, student at-large regent Mike Kenyanya, and fifth congressional district regent Janie Mayeron. Assistant Senate DFL Leader Jeff Hayden, DFL-Minneapolis, released the following statement in response.

“Congratulations, regents! We elected three women and two people of color today – that’s a big deal for an institution making decisions on the how we educate students and what the University campus looks like. We have a long way to go to ensure college is accessible and inclusive to all, but today’s vote was a step in the right direction. Not every candidate I voted for won today, but in the end, it was a positive experience to see the Senate and House come together and select a diverse slate of regents.”
