Susan Kent is a state senator with a strong combination of private, public and community experience that illustrate her passion for building strong communities. In addition to many years of advocacy for students of South Washington County Schools, Susan Kent has more than 20 years of professional experience in strategic marketing and media, as well as a wealth of private and public experience in building strong communities. This experience gives Susan a strong understanding of the businesses and employers that contribute to our communities.

Like many, Susan’s involvement as an active parent guided her to several volunteer roles. She was a founder of the Twin Cities East Chapter of Mothers & More, a national non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of mothers through support, education and advocacy. She has served several roles in school district-wide working groups and PTA and spent countless hours in district classrooms. Her volunteer work in child abuse prevention and in prenatal counseling for high-risk women solidified her dedication to quality healthcare and healthy families.

Susan is an experienced leader, dedicated advocate, former small business owner and a concerned community member who wants to ensure that Minnesota renews its commitments to citizens and end legislative gridlock at the Capitol. Susan and her family have long held ties with the east metro community.  Her husband of 24 years, Chris, is a Maplewood native and has worked for 3M for almost 30 years. Susan and Chris reside in Woodbury with their son, Andrew.

It's that time of year! Woodbury Days is always a great chance to visit with friends, meet new folks, and discuss issues that are important to people. Spent this afternoon & evening in the SD53 DFL booth with Rep. JoAnn Ward and our amazing volunteers. We'll be there most of tomorrow, and then Sunday is the parade and more booth time. Come enjoy this great community tradition (rides! food tent! friends!) and stop by and say hi. And our annual tradition continues: spin the wheel, answer a civics question and get a piece of candy! 😀 ...

Commissioner Myron Frans is coming to Woodbury tomorrow! Join me in welcoming him on this stop of his "My Minnesota Tour." As commissioner of Minnesota Management and Budget, he is looking for feedback on what new investments the state could be looking at making, as well as offering Minnesotans the chance to hear about where their tax dollars go and how the state’s budget directly impacts their local community. Each stop on the tour will function as an informal town hall with ice cream being served and an interactive presentation from Commissioner Frans. I look forward to seeing you! ...
