Minneapolis Senators Statement on President Trump Visit to Minneapolis
MINNEAPOLIS – In response to President Donald Trump’s visit and rally at the Target Center, Senators Bobby Joe Champion, Kari Dziedzic, Jeff Hayden, Patricia Torres Ray and Scott Dibble released the following statement in response:
“Minneapolis is a welcoming community, where neighbors support each other, diversity is celebrated, and everyone is treated with respect regardless of where they come from, who they love, or what they look like. Minnesotans value one another, pitch in together, and stand up for each other. We know that being Minnesotan has nothing to do with what you look like, who you love, or where you come from, it’s about treating each other with respect and supporting one another in times of need.
Since the beginning of his campaign and after taking office, President Trump has stoked division and caused real pain through his hateful rhetoric and policies. We wish the President would focus his energy on unifying the country.
Let us be clear – hate has no home in our community.
As your legislators, we are committed to protecting the rights and safety of all of our constituents. We stand in solidarity with those communities that have been targeted by his policies and are doing everything we can at the state level to counteract his actions.”
