New sex offender registration procedure

This bill requires sex offenders who have a change in their employment or housing situation to notify the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension in writing, in the hopes of more accurately tracking sex offenders. Currently, only law enforcement and corrections officers have full access to the sex offender registry, but the bill also allows law enforcement to notify child protection workers of the change in status for the purpose of doing a family welfare check.
