ST. PAUL, Minn- After a particularly difficult floor session, members of the newly formed Purple Caucus met for the third time Tuesday evening. The meeting took place after session and had 9 Democratic and 9 Republican members participate, making this Caucus the most successful and well attended yet.
Conversation focused on Monday’s challenging floor session, sales tax policy and transportation funding. Also members introduced individual bills to the caucus as an opportunity to garner some bi-partisan support.
Purple Caucus Co-Chair Roger Reinert (DFL-Duluth) said he has been continually impressed by the participation in the caucus saying, “This most recent meeting has been the most substantive yet. It’s refreshing to see relationships being cultivated and the trust that is building between members. That trust was evident Tuesday night.”
In total 23 members have attended the Purple Caucus, and more meetings are being planned.
