Senate DFL Leader Susan Kent’s Statement on Statewide Mask Mandate

SAINT PAUL, MN— Today, Governor Walz announced a statewide mask mandate requiring Minnesotans to wear face coverings in indoor spaces and businesses. The mandate would go into effect on July 25th. Following the Governor’s announcement Senator Susan Kent released the following statement:

“Wearing a mask is about public health and keeping our neighbors, families, and loved ones safe. The Governor’s statewide mask mandate is the right decision and based on science that verifies the effectiveness of wearing a mask to mitigate the spread of COVID-19,” said Senate DFL Leader Susan Kent. “A number of businesses and local governments have already implemented mask requirements, and many others are calling for a uniform policy. While many Minnesotans have been responsibly wearing masks in public spaces, this will ensure statewide consistency in preserving community health and safety.”
