Senator Bigham Statement on Distribution of CARES Act Funding by Governor Walz

ST. PAUL, Minn. – On Thursday, Governor Walz announced his plans to follow the legislative agreement in distributing the approximately $841 million in federal CARES Act funding to local units of government. In response, Senator Karla Bigham (DFL-Cottage Grove) released the following statement.

“As a former Cottage Grove City Council member and Washington County Commissioner, I applaud Governor Walz for his decision to use his authority to distribute the much-needed CARES Act funding quickly to our local units of government, using the formula the legislature had agreed to,” said Senator Karla Bigham (DFL-Cottage Grove). “He also should not be in this position, as the legislature should have passed this legislation into law during our regular session. By taking this action, it’s clear the Governor understands the importance of these funds to offset the financial impact COVID-19 has had on our local partners.”
