St. Paul, Minn. –Senator Greg Clausen (DFL – Apple Valley) has been appointed to the Legislative Permanent School Fund Commission. First implemented in 1982, it now consists of 12 legislative members, six from the Senate and House. The Commission is charged with advising the Department of Natural Resources and the school trust lands director on the management of permanent school fund land. In addition, each year the Commission reviews statutes and recommends changes for managing trust lands efficiently, reducing expenditures, and maximizing their long-term financial future.
“I am honored to have been appointed to this commission,” said Sen. Clausen. “As a former educator, I know how important the school fund is for districts across our state. The Commission has an important task in recommending best practices for managing these lands, and I appreciate the opportunity to work with my colleagues to maintain financial stability of the fund.”
