ST. PAUL, Minn – In recognition of her work to promote equity and strong advocacy for policies and investments to reduce economic disparities for Minnesota’s communities of color, Senator Kari Dziedzic (DFL-Minneapolis) was recognized by Voices of Racial Justice as a Champion of Racial Equity. Her “A” rating from the group acknowledged her leadership to advance racial equity and equality by serving as chief author or co-author on racial equity legislation.
“I am honored to have received this recognition from Voices of Racial Justice but I know there is more work we could and should be doing to address the persistent economic disparities that are affecting people across Minnesota and especially in our community. We made positive first steps this year with investments in jobs and education programs targeted at communities of color. I will work with my colleagues to continue to press for more robust legislation and efforts to make sure no one in Minnesota is left behind,” said Dziedzic.
Senator Dziedzic was one of the chief advocates for the $35 million in funding for equity grants included in the supplemental budget. These competitive grants will be used to improve and expand education and job training, business and workforce development, and housing and home ownership opportunities.
