St. Paul, Minn. Governor Tim Walz unveiled his 2019 budget proposal today. In response, Senator Erik Simonson (DFL-Duluth) issued the following statement:
“The budget unveiled by the governor today delivers critical investments in the priorities and values that Minnesotans voted for in November,” said Senator Simonson. “This budget would implement historic levels of funding for our schools, establish a public option to drive down costs and expand access to high-quality health care, and support necessary improvements to our state’s infrastructure. It also makes real strides to restoring local government aid to cities and counties allowing for local property taxes relief for hundreds of thousands of Minnesotans. While the February budget forecast will provide a clearer picture on our state’s economic health, today’s proposal outlines the values that Minnesotans care about.”
