Senator Karla Bigham Votes for Coronavirus Response bill

St. Paul, Minn. – Today, the Minnesota Senate approved SF 3813, a bill transferring $20.8 million from the general fund to the public health response contingency account for the response of COVID-19. Senator Karla Bigham (DFL-Cottage Grove), voted in support of the bill.

“Minnesota’s public health officials are some of the best in the country, and passing this bill quickly is unlocking even more resources to help them meet the effects of this virus,” said Senator Bigham. “We are prepared to do whatever is necessary to mitigate the effects of this virus, and to keep people’s health as our top priority.”

With two confirmed cases of the virus in Minnesota, the Minnesota Department of Health has set up a hotline to answer questions relating to COVID-19, which will be open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily. The hotline number is 651-201-3920. Residents are also encouraged to visit www.health.state.mn.us for up-to-date and accurate information.
