Senator Latz votes for COVID-19 Workers’ Compensation for First Responders and Health Care Workers

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Senator Ron Latz, DFL-St. Louis Park, voted in support of the legislation to deliver workers’ compensation benefits to health care and public safety workers who contract COVID-19 in the line of duty. The legislation provides a presumption that if these workers contract COVID-19, they did so during their employment and are covered by workers’ compensation.

“Our first responders and health care workers are on the front lines, putting themselves in harm’s way every day and deserve our support. I am honored to be able to vote to give them the much needed coverage of workers’ compensation if they contract COVID-19 during their employment.”

Governor Walz had indicated that he will sign the legislation. A copy of the legislation can be found here.
