Senator Rest votes for COVID-19 Workers’ Compensation for First Responders and Health Care Workers

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Senator Ann Rest, DFL-New Hope, voted in support of the legislation to deliver workers’ compensation benefits to health care and public safety workers who contract COVID-19 in the line of duty. The legislation provides a presumption that if these workers contract COVID-19, they did so during their employment and are covered by workers’ compensation.

“I’m honored to be able to vote in support of our first responders and health care workers, who are out there every day helping the sick and vulnerable during this pandemic. Giving these workers some security and compensation in this difficult situation is the least we can do as a Legislature.”

The legislation is expected to be signed by Governor Walz. A copy of the legislation can be found here.
