ST. PAUL, Minn. – Today, the Office of the Legislative Auditor released a report on findings related to the Dan Markingson case at the University of Minnesota. Additionally, the Committee heard an external review of clinical research involving human subjects done by a panel of independent experts.
Chair of the Senate Higher Education and Workforce Development Committee, Senator Terri Bonoff (DFL-Minnetonka) released the following statement in response to their findings:
“This was a sobering report. We thank both Legislative Auditor Nobles and his staff for their review, as well as the thorough Senate Faculty report. We stand beside the University, their staff and the Regents with the highest of expectations. We heard President Kaler remark that changes would be made to ensure the University will conduct itself ethically beyond reproach. That is our expectation.”
