ST. PAUL, Minn – Longtime Minnesota State Senator Jim Metzen passed away late Monday evening, losing his battle with cancer at the age of 72. His colleague and friend Sen. David Tomassoni (DFL-Chisholm) released the following statement.
“Jim was truly a great American, and a dear friend. We sat next to one another on the Senate floor, and we also had offices close to each other. Jim was one of a kind. A former hockey player, he was very successful in business, served in politics for nearly all of his adult life, and was a dedicated family man. I will miss him, and the Minnesota Senate will not be the same without him. My thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to his wife Sandie, his children, and all who knew and loved him.”
David Tomassoni represents District 6, which includes portions of Itasca and St. Louis counties in the northeastern part of the state.
