ST. PAUL, Minn. – Sunday tap room sales and the ability to fill your growler at any brewery or tap room is now officially law thanks to the hard work of Sunday Sales advocates, Rep. Jenifer Loon (R-Eden Prairie), and Sen. Roger Reinert (DFL-Duluth).
“I’m happy to announce the Governor has signed the Omnibus Liquor bill into law on May 13, making the Sunday tap rooms and growler refill provisions effective immediately,” Sen. Reinert said. He added, “While there remains much more work to be done in Minnesota on the Sunday Sales issue, these small provisions are a step in the right direction and will lead to greater economic opportunity for our booming craft brew industry.”
While it is legal in the eyes of the state, tap rooms must still seek official permission from their local municipality before they can open their doors on Sundays. Whoever initially granted them their tap room liquor license must also grant the proper license to operate on a Sunday.
“I look forward to purchasing the first Sunday pint at one of Duluth’s fine new tap rooms,” said Sen. Reinert.
