Senator Latz to Introduce Extreme Risk Protection Orders & Criminal Background Check Bills

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Senator Ron Latz (DFL-St. Louis Park) will hold a press conference to discuss two gun violence prevention bills. Both measures will be introduced during the Senate’s floor session on Thursday, January 24. The first bill, Extreme Risk Protection Orders, would allow law enforcement and family members to seek a court order temporarily restricting a person’s access to guns when they show red flags and pose a danger to themselves and/or others. The second bill would extend criminal background checks to most private sales, gun show markets, and online transactions.

The second bill would extend criminal background checks to most private sales, gun show markets, and online transactions with a permit to purchase system.
