St. Paul, Minn. – On Thursday, the State Government Finance and Policy and Elections Committee will be hearing SF 241 and SF 93, legislation allowing federal funding from the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) to strengthen Minnesota’s elections security. Minnesota is the only state in the country that has not used the approximately $6.6 million in HAVA funding to upgrade security and protect election integrity.
“Safe and secure elections are fundamental to a healthy functioning democracy, and it’s vital that Minnesota move forward on authorizing the use of these funds to strengthen our election security from any foreign interference and to keep Minnesotans privacy safe,” said Senator Jim Carlson (DFL-Eagan).
