Supplemental Tax Omnibus Includes Tax Relief, Paid Family Leave

Supplemental Tax Omnibus Includes Tax Relief for Families

The Senate supplemental omnibus tax bill (H.F. 3931) provides tax relief for working families, helps combat the growing burden of student debt, and creates a new paid leave program for state workers. The bill, authored by Sen. Rod Skoe (DFL-Clearbrook), passed the Senate on a vote of 37-30 Wednesday.

Paid Family and Medical Leave Act

Protections for Minnesota families will be a major focus of the 2016 Legislative Session. The Paid Family and Medical Leave Act was unveiled recently, and proposes to create a statewide insurance program in which “everybody contributes and everybody benefits.” The goal of this legislation is to allow all Minnesota workers to meet the needs of their families without jeopardizing their economic security.
