Sen. Ron Latz, Rep. Paul Thissen Announce Net Neutrality Protections

St. Paul – Last Thursday, the FCC reversed net neutrality protections that had been implemented to keep the internet free and open.

Sen. Ron Latz (DFL-St. Louis Park) and  Rep. Paul Thissen (DFL-Minneapolis) will announce steps they will take in the 2018 legislative session to help protect net neutrality in Minnesota.

Senate District 61 Legislators to Co-Host Town Hall Meeting Focused on Health Care

ST. PAUL, Minn – Reps. Frank Hornstein and Paul Thissen, and State Senator Scott Dibble, DFL-Minneapolis, are co-hosting a health care town hall meeting. The public is invited to attend and join the conversation. Attendees will be able to receive updates and discuss recent national and state issues and concerns on health care access and financing with physicians, nurses, policy experts, and other health care experts. There will be an opportunity to hear from organizations active on health care issues and learn more about how individuals can get involved.

The town hall is particularly timely following major health care related budget and policy decisions by the Minnesota Legislature and in light of the possibility for a significant vote in the U.S. Senate yet this week.

Minnesota Secure Choice Retirement Act

ST. PAUL, MN – Sen. Sandy Pappas (DFL-St. Paul), Rep. Jamie Becker-Finn (DFL-Roseville), businesses owners, representatives from AARP and SEIU, along with numerous stakeholders are participating in a press conference on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. to highlight important legislation to address Minnesota’s retirement savings crisis.


What:  Press conference on the Minnesota Secure Choice Retirement Act S.F. 2303/H.F. 2570. Senate authors: Pappas, Abeler, Eaton, Rosen. House authors: Becker-Finn, Thissen, Bernardy, Metsa, Freiberg, Maye Quade, Lien.

Why:  Many Minnesotans do not feel financially prepared for retirement. More than one-third of Minnesotans feel they are behind schedule for planning and saving for retirement. Half of respondents feel anxious about having enough money for retirement and 84 percent wish they had more money saved for retirement. Almost 79 percent of those not offered a retirement savings plan at work would take advantage of a way to save for retirement at work if offered.
