Tonight, the Minnesota State Senate voted to pass HF5 37-29. Sen. Tony Lourey (DFL-Kerrick), Ranking Member of the Health and Human Services Policy and Finance Committee has released the following statement regarding his thoughts on the bill and the vote.
The recent release of the February forecast shows Minnesota is doing well, and will have an estimated surplus of $1.65 billion in 2018-19.
Over the past year there has been a lot of media coverage on the increasing cost of health insurance in Minnesota and the lack of access to providers in rural communities.
I thank Gov. Dayton for his commitment to expanding MinnesotaCare, the backbone of affordable health care across Minnesota, especially in rural communities like the ones I represent.
