We just wrapped up our DFL listening session in Willmar, which produced some really great conversations. It is clear that we all have a lot more in common with people across this state than we think sometimes. We’re finding that the negative often rises to the top in news stories, but when you come here and you sit down and listen, you’re pleasantly surprised.
St. Paul, Minn.—Sen. Jason Isaacson (DFL-Shoreview), Assistant Minority Leader Sen. Susan Kent (DFL-Woodbury), Sen. Dan Schoen (DFL-St. Paul Park), and Sen. Melissa Wiklund (DFL-Bloomington) will be visiting Willmar on Saturday April 29. Along with taking a tour of the city, lead by local community leaders, the four legislators will hold a public Town Hall at the Kandi Entertainment Center. All members of the public are invited to attend, ask questions, and share what issues or concerns they have during the final three weeks of the 2017 legislative session. This event is open to the press and public.

After a successful listening tour in Grand Rapids in March, a new group of us have embarked today for Willmar. We are leaving St. Paul behind with just three weeks left of session and are on our way to Western Minnesota. This time we hail from Shoreview, Hastings, Bloomington and Woodbury, and we’re all looking forward to spending some time with voters who may see things different from our own constituents.
To hear from the public firsthand about the transportation needs in Greater Minnesota, the Senate Transportation and Public Safety Committee traveled to St. Cloud and Willmar on Friday, Feb. 20. The visits included tours, presentations on transportation projects and opportunities, and a public hearing.
