The 2014 bonding bill invests $109 million into critical transportation projects across the state. These projects are investments in our roads and bridges, will expand and encourage economic development and are a smart balance between the needs of each part of the state. Minnesota has the 5th largest highway system in the nation with 140,000 miles of roads; more than half of those miles and 35% of the state’s bridges are more than 50 years old. If we are going to continue to be an economic leader, we must work to maintain and modernize these corridors. By prioritizing transportation we are addressing critical long-term needs that will provide safety, economic success and opportunity.
