ST. PAUL, MINN. – Sen. Greg Clausen is pictured with Paul Olson and students from Apple Valley High School who are testifying on behalf of SF 557 in the E12 Finance Committee on March 25, 2015. S.F. 557 is Sen. Clausen’s legislation to award $3 million to schools to provide Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM)-based courses to students. The grant awards would be limited to $75,000 per course. Additionally, the legislation will provide loan forgiveness for STEM teachers helping to expand and improve our education system in this area. Minnesota employers have been saying for years that our schools will need to produce more students proficient in STEM fields if we’re going to fill thousands of new jobs in the coming years, Sen. Clausen’s bill addresses this need.
