Aquatic Invasive Species Sticker

This legislation modifies a law passed in 2012 that requires those who haul boats or boat-docking equipment to undergo a 30-minute online training course about preventing the spread of aquatic invasive species in Minnesota. The original purpose was to make sure everyone knows how to properly clean their boats and equipment. Key provisions in this year’s bill include delaying the start of the training program/decal requirement by one year, and making the training program and decals free of charge. The bill also clarifies that statute would provide for enforcement of the law only for boats or equipment launched into Minnesota waters, and would not apply to boaters just passing through the state.

STATUS: The bill is in the Finance Committee. (S.F. 669)
