As Governor Signs PRO Act, Senate Majority Leader Kari Dziedzic Touts Importance of Putting into Law the Right to Reproductive Freedom

Signing Comes Just Days After Measure Won Historic Approval in Senate

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Senate Majority Leader Kari Dziedzic (DFL-Minneapolis) said that when Governor Walz signed the Protect Reproductive Options (PRO) Act (HF 1) Tuesday, he put into law the right of every Minnesotan to make their own decisions about their reproductive health.

“Minnesotans have made it clear that they want their government to protect their rights and freedoms, not restrict them, and today with the PRO Act being signed into law by Governor Walz, we have said we trust the women of Minnesota to make the right choice for themselves and their families when it comes to reproductive health care,” said Majority Leader Dziedzic. “With the PRO Act becoming law today, Minnesota will be a safe place for reproductive freedom, now and into the future.”

Majority Leader Dziedzic said the Senate DFL majority remained unified through 15 hours of debate on the PRO Act, which began last Friday and spilled into the early morning hours of Saturday.  The Senate will continue to advance measures to ensure that all Minnesotans have access to reproductive healthcare, she said.
