SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Senate Majority Leader Kari Dziedzic (DFL-Minneapolis) today released the following statement on the new state budget forecast.

“The economic forecast released today is good news. The Minnesota economy continues to thrive, with positive recent statistics and encouraging outlooks for individuals and businesses. We have a surplus this biennium, a balanced budget going forward, and higher budget reserves than at any time in Minnesota history. We faced the tremendous downturn of the pandemic with resolve, and we have emerged from it with stability.

While most other states are bracing for a potential loss of thousands of child care programs and millions of child care spots when years of federal COVID child care funding comes to an end on September 30, Minnesota families can be assured of access to stable child care.
