New law to protect Minnesotans from Predatory Payday Lending Practices Goes into Effect

Chief author Senator Judy Seeberger vows to continue to protect Minnesotans from bad actors and predatory practices

St. Paul, Minn. – Predatory payday loans are a thing of the past in Minnesota thanks to recent law change that into effect on January 1. The new law, a result of legislation authored by Senator Judy Seeberger (DFL-Afton), will cap the interest rates on these loans to help prevent Minnesotans from falling into debt traps.

Legislative Task Force on Emergency Medical Services convenes first meeting

SAINT PAUL, MN – Today, the Legislative Task Force on Emergency Medical Services (EMS) convened its public meeting in St. Paul. The task force, co-chaired by Rep. John Huot (DFL-Rosemount) and Sen. Judy Seeberger (DFL-Afton), was established to review the delivery of and obstacles to Minnesota’s EMS system and to receive public testimony from Minnesotans on the current and foreseeable needs in locations across the state.
