Bakk comments on Senate Republican “plans” to Advance Minnesota

St. Paul, Minn.—Senate DFL Caucus Leader Tom Bakk (DFL-Cook) has released the following statement in response to Senate Republicans’ press conference today.

“Senate Republicans unveiled their priorities for this session, unfortunately they could provide no costs, no savings, and no spending figures to accompany these priorities. DFL Senators share the priorities of funding transportation, supporting all regions of Minnesota, growing our economy, and improving healthcare. I urge Senate Republicans to resist the temptation of depleting the state budget reserve for a short-term budget. I encourage Republicans to keep the structural stability of the state budget in mind as they begin to put numbers behind their priorities,” Bakk said.

“DFL Senators will continue to fight for policies that support working families and improve our state’s quality of life including paid family leave, investing in education infrastructure, passing the working families tax credit, supporting a robust bonding bill, and finally passing a comprehensive transportation plan,” Bakk said.
